Baking soda-free floral deodorant recipe

Yields: 1 KIIMA mold (2 refills)

Ingredients

Fats

  • 1 tbsp + 1 tsp (20 ml or 12 g) sunflower wax
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml or 20 g) mango butter
  • 3 tbsp (45 ml or 32 g) sunflower oil (or another vegetable oil)

Powders

  • 1 tbsp (15 ml or 8 g) arrowroot starch or cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml or 4 g) diatomaceous earth

Essential oils

  • 30 drops (0.85 g) palmarosa essential oil*
  • 20 drops (0.6 g) geranium essential oil

* Palmarosa essential oil is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. In such cases, replace it with cistus ladanifer essential oil (Cistus ladaniferus) in the same quantity.

Instructions

Melt the fats

  1. Place the sunflower wax, mango butter, and oil in a Mason jar (or any heat-resistant container).
  2. Put the Mason jar in a small saucepan and fill the pan with water until the water level slightly surpasses the ingredients in the jar.
  3. Heat on low until everything is fully melted.

Add the powders and oils

  1. Turn off the heat. Leave the Mason jar in the warm water and add the arrowroot starch, diatomaceous earth, and essential oils, stirring well.

Storage

  1. Pour the mixture into the molds and let it set for a few hours.
  2. Once solidified, insert the refills into the KIIMA refillable applicator. It’s ready to use!

Good to know

  • Arrowroot starch and diatomaceous earth absorb moisture and keep skin dry.
  • Palmarosa essential oil regulates perspiration and fights odor-causing bacteria.
  • Geranium essential oil is also antibacterial and works as an astringent, tightening sweat pores.
